has Three well maintained golf courses .The Srinagar
Golf Club located in the heart of the city one the Maulana Azad Road
has a full fledged 18 hole course which is the venue for a large
number of national tournaments.
Srinagar
’s second course is
attached to the Oberoi Palace Hotel and has nine holes. Overlooking
the pictureque
Dal
Lake
, it also offers a magnificent view of the city.
Third one is the Sher-I-Kashmir
International Golf Coure is designed by the work’s most famous golf
architect, Peter Trent Jones Jr the 18 hole course is spread in
an area of 200 acres of forest land. In fact it will be a part of the
Dr. Ali National Park which has been set up to conserve this rich
forest area, abundant in natural life.

Gulmarg |

Gulmarg now has a 6,760 yards, par
72,18 hole golf course. The Highest course in the workd, it also
boasts of
India
’s longest hole, a par five, 610yards. Because of the uphill factor.
It
is almost as if god intended a golf course at Gulmarg when he created
it: a lush green bowl covered with a variety of alpine flowers and
criss crossed by snow fed streams and rivulets; gently undulating
slopes carpeted with a natural mossy turf, and a crisply cool bracing
weather! What more could a golfer ask for ?

Shimla |

Shimla
was the summer capital during the British Raj. Since no English
township could be complete without a golf course, a suitable site was
finally chosen at Naldehra 23 km from Shimla. The course is carpeted
by a fine springy turf, which requires little maintenance.
The
Naldehra Golf links are one of the oldest in the country, and also the
most ‘sporting’ east of the
Suez
. Located on a spur, the Naldehra course is crowned by a beautiful
grove of deodar trees, and commands a spectacular view of the Shivalik
ranges.

’s golf course is one of the newest courses of international
standards in the country. It conforms to the ethos of the city with
its lush green fairways, well manicured greens and a variety of fruit
and flowering trees.
It was only as late as september 1983 that a regular 18 hole per 72
course was finally laid out over a sprawling 132 acres.

Originally located in an area more than twice its present size, the
course at the Delhi Golf Club was consolidated to its present 220
acres in 1950. Like the rest of

, its golf course is also laid out on a part of

’s history. Carved out of a portion, which was the estate of the
Lodhi rulers, it has in its precincts a collection of interesting
tombs and monuments.
