Manali one of the most magnificent hill resorts, full with natural endowments, scenic splendor, places of tourist interest round the year, snow claded mountain peaks and challenging tracks; allure the tourists, adventurers and trekkers not only from India but also from abroad.

It is located in the   Kullu   Valley   , at an altitude of over1925m above sea level. Manali means "home of Manu". There is a very interesting story as to how did Manali get it's name "Manali"

This hill resort is undoubtedly a tourists' paradise. The scented mountain breeze, fresh and pure, the singing of birds, the panoramic view of the Himalayas -the sights, sounds and smells leave the onlooker spellbound.

Manali attractions include Hidimba Devi Temple, Manali Sanctuary, Mountaineering Institute,  Temple Of  Manu ,  Tibetan  Temple ,   Vashisth  Village  , Adventure Sports such as The rafting is done on a 9-16 km stretch between Mohal and Jidi. River rafting is an exciting adventure sport. There are countless trekking routes in   Kullu   Valley     

Places of Interest 

Club House

Has a beautiful view of deodar forest, with river flowing beside the Club House. It has indoor/ outdoor games. There are some picnic spots near it.

Manu   Temple

2 kms. from the Club House in old Manali lies the   temple of  Manu Rishi . It is believed that this is the only  temple of  Manu in India   , who was the creator of human race on the earth.

Vashist Bath (3 km from Manali at an altitude of 6200 ft.) :

A village with a beautiful view on the left bank of the Beas is renowned for its Hot   Sulphur  Water Spring and temple of Vashist and Lord Ram.

Hadimaba Devi Temple

Built in 1550 AD, Hadimba is the most powerful deity of the valley. The temple is fouriered with Pagoda shaped roof and front doorway covered with figures and symbols. There is a beautiful forest around it, which is a good picnic spot.

Jagatsukh

Located on the left bank on Beas on the road to Naggar. The place is famous for very old temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and to Sandhya Gayatri in Shikhara style, these are worth a visit.The Arjun caves are just ahead. 

Solang   Valley   (13 kms from Manali)

A beautiful picnic spot. Nice meadows surrounded by Silver Oaks and spurs, offers views of Glaciers and snow capped mountains. It is International Skiing slope with a small ropeway. You can also enjoy Paragliding and Horse riding.You can sail high above the ground and see the mountains as never before.

Experience the rush of cold air on your face and have a thrill of your life. Guided para gliding can be done from Solang Valley.

Naggar ( 28 km.)

On the left bank of the Beas and about three hundred metres above the river, Naggar is delightfully situated on a wooded slope and commands an extensive view, especially of the   north west   of the valley. Naggar was the capital of the Kullu Rajas for about 1,400 years.. Artist Nicholas Roerich's art gallery is worth a visit. Cars and jeeps can easily go up to the  Naggar

Climate

Summer in Manali ranges from April to September , with temperatures ranging from a maximum of 20°C and a minimum of 05°,light woolen clothing are recommended during this period Winter here lasts from October to March with temperatures rising to a maximum of 15°C and a low of 0°C.& heavy woolen clothing are recommended

The best time to visit : is between April to mid-July and mid-September to the end of October,

Road It is well connected by road to is well connected by road to chandigarh , Shimla and Delhi .
