Physical Features |
|
Most of the State
consists of parts of the Deccan Plateau and the
Western Ghats
. Between the Ghats and the
Arabian Sea
there is the narrow West Coast Plain, called Konkan. The plateau to the east
of the Western Ghats is cut by many rivers like the Godavari, the Wainganga,
the Penganga, the Wardha, the Krishna and the Bhima, all flowing south-east
towards the Bay of Bengal. In the north-west, the river Tapi flows westward
on its journey to the
Arabian Sea
. The black soil of the plateau region is very fertile. |

Climate |
|
- The climate of State
is generally mild. The
Western Ghats
and north-western parts receive ample rainfall during the summer season,
thanks to the Arabian Sea Monsoons.
